A SIM card is the most important thing in a mobile phone. While a phone might start, you cannot carry out any of its essential functions such as calling, messaging, or accessing the internet. However, it is important to note that just buying a SIM is not enough. You also need to choose the type of SIM.

A mobile SIM can be categorised into two, namely post-paid card and prepaid card. In the case of a post-paid SIM card, you have to pay the service provider at the receipt of a bill. On the other hand, for a prepaid card, there is no bill. Instead, you have to recharge the number regularly to keep using the service. Usually, you don’t have to pay a lot to keep your phone running, which will be extremely convenient for your wallet. However, if you are looking for more reasons, here are four more:

1. It is inexpensive:

In comparison to post-paid, a prepaid plan is affordable. Under prepaid services, you alone are responsible for your cell phone usage. You can’t talk for an unlimited amount of time like it is possible for the post-paid card. This means that you need to keep in mind the limitations of your balance and should avoid crossing the limit. Moreover, prepaid plans can sometimes be cheap ensuring that they are not a burden on your wallet.

2. There are no contracts involved:

Unlike post-paid services, no contracts are involved in prepaid. In the former, you may be fined for non-payment of the bill or even for opting out of the service before the expiry of the contract. However, that’s not the case for prepaid. Whenever it runs out of balance, you can’t make calls or send messages. Furthermore, the absence of a formal agreement means that you can leave the service whenever you want, without any fine.
