Buying a SIM card is an important step. Without it, the phone is not useful as you can’t make calls without it. However, it is important to note that SIM cards can be classified into post-paid and prepaid cards. In post-paid services, you pay the operator at the end of the month. Prepaid, on the other hand, means that you have to recharge the balance in the card so that services remain uninterrupted. A reason to choose a prepaid plan is that it is comparatively inexpensive to a post-paid plan.

However, it is important to note that buying a prepaid SIM involves certain procedures. To register prepaid, these are the following steps:

· Verifying your proof of identity:

This is the most important step in the step to buy prepaid. Identity verification as a procedure ties directly to the previous step. You may ask why telecom operators would ask for your identity. Verification helps in confirming the fact that the number registered in your name truly is yours. Moreover, verification will help in identifying scams and will help in keeping such instances from happening. Once this process is completed, you have to wait for some time for the number to start. Sometimes, apart from providing the physical documents, you may need to verify it all by also providing your fingerprints.

· Wait for activation:

Once the aforementioned steps are completed, it is important to note that you cannot instantly start using the phone. You need to wait for some time before you can start making the calls. The waiting time can vary between three to four hours and two or three days.

The steps mentioned above should help you in the purchase of a new SIM card. Hope you found the article helpful.
